Shipley’s Choice

The neighborhood of Shipley’s Choice has a Millersville address but is zoned for both Severna Park Middle and High School and is considered by locals as part of the greater Severna Park community. 854 of Shipley’s 1100 single family homes belong to the Shipley’s Choice Homeowners’ Association with minimal annual fees of $90. 

The neighborhood is unique in that it has its own walkable elementary school. Shipley’s Choice Elementary consistently ranks as one of the state’s Top Elementary Schools each year and has a very active PTA. Neighbors routinely socialize at the privately managed Shipley’s Choice Swim and Tennis Club. The Clubhouse can be rented out for parties, and neighbors often use the space for holiday gatherings or adult get-togethers. Friday evenings at the pool are always a big event, and occasionally will involve a band or DJ. The Swim Club also includes a snack bar, bathhouse, 4 swimming pools, and 4 tennis courts.

During the summer months, many children join the swim team or enjoy a tennis clinic with the coach of the Junior Tennis Team, which participants in the Patapsco Junior Tennis League. Sidewalks line the major roads, ideal for dog-walkers, joggers, and bike- riders. Several tot lots serve as meeting spots for parents of younger children, and playgroups routinely meet at residents’ homes.
